Qbr recounts: Our partnership with Google AdSense

Let’ take a moment and consider the importance of the Google partnership for Qbr: an interview with Gianluca Cozzolino, published on October 4th on the Italian Google AdSense Blog, presents not only an opportunity to describe Qbr experience with AdSense’s “contextual advertising” , but also a chance to recount three years of cooperation with Google.

AdSense is a new and innovative advertising program made available by Google to web publishers since 2003.
It allows publishing ads and banners on websites, thanks to a program that makes the advertising contextual: the ads that appear to internet users occupy little space and pertain to single pages subjects, guaranteeing a high click potential. This way the website is enriched with pertinent contents and at the same time earns its effective profit.

Qbr.it is today one of the most successful social networks in Italy: its community has more than 300.000 registered users and this number is increasing every day. It was founded in 2003 and in 2004 was taken over and managed by Nascar (Neapolitan Internet leading Company in visual identity design projects, online communication and web-marketing). In 2007 it launches its online magazine and revolutionizes the chat world with the Real User Rank (the algorithm that detects fake users).

Qbr has been integrating AdSense since May 2004. By choosing Google as advertising partner, we are able to list important clients (such as Nike, Alitalia, Microsoft, Tim, Vodafone, etc…) and optimally manage the ads on our portal. This is possible on account of the support and expertise of Google staff, which has always supported Qbr.it in the optimization of advertising spaces. Google’s partnership is also of fundamental strategic importance, because AdSense allows Qbr to continue in the same spirit it started: providing its users with a free service but with very high quality.

Gianluca Cozzolino, Qbr’s CEO, declares: “Our cooperation with Google is not only a business joint venture but something deeper. We share with the American company the perfectly embodied spirit of the popular motto: “don’t be evil. Google as our social network wasn’t created for business, but to provide our users with services. Business is a necessary consequence to assure a model of this type”.
In recent years we’ve received so many offers to turn our chat into a pay-portal. We have always rejected the idea and we are firmly committed to continuing on this path, a free quality service to our community”.
And finally he adds: “Qbr.it expansion plan includes the project of a Multilanguage portal. It is time to export our social network beyond the national borders. Italians share a specific characteristic , recognized worldwide, typical of our country: the capability to create relations aimed at meeting people, friendship, sex, and fun.

With Google’s professionalism, as mediator in the advertisers relations, buying and selling advertising spaces has become fast and easy. In its expansion process, Qbr intends to continue with AdSense and soon it will be sufficient to activate an Adwords account to become Qbr.it advertisers.
