How do you conquer the 2.0 generation? This is the challenge that the team of editors of Qbr magazine face daily with appealing new objectives and proposals. Understanding  how to reach the  2.0 generation, how to interact with them and get their  interest is not an easy task, because their world is always suspended between the virtual and reality, varied and therefore complicated.

The great challenge that my colleagues and I tackle continuously, is to get  the community  involved with the contents of the Qbr magazine. The so called 2.0 generation is a target  of 15-30 year olds who live on the edge of both reality and the virtual world, and therefore represent a  complex and more difficult category to attract.  The pressures that  2.0 generation are continuously under makes the task of appealing to and engaging them, truly exciting especially since Web 2.0 offers an infinite possibility of more or less similar services.

So why choose us? What should or could make a difference?

These are the questions that we ask ourselves every day to ensure that the users the come upon our portal can say: “Finally I’ve found what I was looking for!”

I believe that  Qbr magazine is one of the most complete and updated among those present on the web (and not just because I work on it) and that it is an remarkably ambitious project for two main reasons: it informs and interests the 2.0 generation belonging to the Qbr community and it presents a good 12 channels ranging from news to gossip, internet, to education, that can be managed and updated with specifically requested contents.

A real challenge  for us editors who adore writing for  our users, and so are constantly trying to understand their  needs and interests, and look at the world through their eyes.
Easier said than done, also considering that feedback, represented by the number  of comments and visits to the site, is practically instantaneous. So for better  or for worse, we are immediately aware of the level of success or failure of a certain article or initiative.
It is possible for instance, that a bright  idea like “ Guess who that is? Name that star?” meets with great success while an article such as online swapping is as popular as poison ivy.
Each and every day the Qbr editors are put to the test when they create contents that inform the young men and women of generation 2.0 by using their language and connecting with them at an “emotional “ level as well.
In some sections like “Love Sex”, the topics are rather delicate and if you consider that the targeted age  ranges from teens to thirtysomething , finding the appropriate language is not easy.
Vivian, who is in charge of this section, is able to interest both age ranges, thanks to her eclectic style that allows her to deal with frivolous  topics that may appeal to a 14 year old as well as more serious issues that may interest an older crowd.
Her chameleon-like  writing seems to attract teenagers because it addresses topics that directly concern them such as “Neverending love: a story to learn from”, or “When your friend becomes your lover” and at the same time it captivates the interest of an older crowd with science driven articles such as “Happy because of DNA” or current events like “Aids: an a pro condom advertisement from the Minister”.
Each editor, , tries to reach the heart of his readers and doing so is no joke, but rather an incredible feat.
We are certainly up to the challenge, we are aware that generation 2.0 cannot be fooled with tricks or gimmicks and deserves are very best. We know it is the only way to succeed in our mission: to conquer it!
